Contact Management Applications

Lynn

Hi, I'm researching contact management applications for my
company. We have a small database (500 customers) and
need a system where we can track phone calls and print
labels from. Can someone please suggest a good
application for us? We've been using Act for the past few
years but don't like it.

Thanks.

Me, too, pls???!! I have a friend who just had a new XP box purchased
and that will be installed this week.

She needs to find a good contact management database/app to handle
their client base and to keep track of the usual client information -
name, email, address, etc., etc. In addition, a minimum of the usual
two types of reports are needed, printing out the contact information
in:

- by date product completed for customer
- by customer name in alphanumeric order

I don't believe anything comes in the Office XP but thought I'd ask
here. Or can anyone recommend anything in the MS line? I'm not sure
if they actually have Office XP, though, to be frank, I imagine it's
bundled into the new system.

Thank you!

It sounds like you can use Microsoft Access for a lot of what you are
describing. You may also want to use Outlook for some of the contact items
but Access certainly should fit your needs.

Ah, yes, but that means writing up a database most likely (unless
there is something suitable already in the templates??).

I, myself, looking for a ready-made program for my friend's company,
in actuality. They have no one to write one up for them.

Thanks!

No, using Access *creates* your database. You enter the information in
records and can manipulate the records to produce the information retrieval
that you want.

No, using Access *creates* your database. You enter the information in

Yes, via the wizard. But watch out if you have to change anything.
Although I manage complex db's in Filemaker Pro, I don't know visual
basic so get stuck in Access (and Word) whenever I need to do any
changes to what the wizard creates. Also, I suspect they need a
dedicated contact management app. They have no-one who can help them
with this if they need anything more complex than what Access could
provide the complete newbie. Ultimately, they're going to demo Act!
to see if it'll do what they need.
records and can manipulate the records to produce the information retrieval
that you want.

Thanks, Milly. Appreciate the help very much!
