contact names not addresses

I use Outlook 2002(XP) and there are times when I start a
new email and type the name in the "TO" box the name of
the person auto-completes but then when I try to send the
message I get the window that asks if I want to add the
contact. When I look in the contacts the person is listed
there but when I click on the "TO" tab on the new email
screen the name is not listed there. I am thinking that
because the name is not listed in the address book it is
not working, but I also thought that when you added a
contact it updated your address book. At any rate my issue
is that when I type a name in it does not recognize it. I
am looking for a way to fix this,,,,,

It is not clear from your post exactly what you are doing or whether you are
using autoresolution or autocompletion.
List the steps you are using more precisely, including whether the name is
appearing before or after you tab out of the To: field.
Examine the Contact in question and see if the actual email address in the
Contact Record is valid (i.e., resolved or underlined).
