Contact numbers do not show parenthesis

When I enter a phone number in 2007 Outlook contacts, parenthesis are not
shown.
I just get 2128889876 instead of (212) 888-9876. This missing parens just
became issue. It used to work, but now it doesn't work.

Any fix?
