Contact will not save to category list???

Hello. I'm having an awful time trying to save my contacts
to a category. Could some one please help me? When I view
my contacts by "address card" I open one up and at the
bottom add it to one of the categories in the dialog box.
I then click save and close. After that I go to current
view and pick "by category". But my contact is not there?
Does anybody have any idea why my contact will not save to
the category list? If so please e-mail me at
(e-mail address removed).
