contacting Microsoft?

Michael

Well I found our problem which is explained in Microsoft
Knowledge Base Article - 824424

BUT the only way to get the hot fix is to contact
Microsoft, and after 2 hours of messing around, i can not
get through to microsoft through the website.

It keeps asking for the PID of the product in questions,
so i tried the PID of WinXP, but that is a OEM version so
they won't even accept my request.

I tried the PID for Office 2003, but they think it is
invalid. (It's not invalid - maybe very new and not in
their database yet, but not invalid).

So I'm stuck. Anyone know of a better way to contact
Microsoft so i can request this hot fix?

So you completely failed to read the second paragraph...?

"To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support
Services to obtain the hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product
Support Services phone numbers and information about support costs, visit
the following Microsoft Web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;[LN];CNTACTMS&FR=1

Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support
calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a
specific update will resolve your problem. The usual support costs will
apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for the
specific update in question."

That's right - you have to use the /telephone/. You do remember how to use
one, don't you? If not, I'm sure there's a website that can provide
instruction.

Hi Michael,

Contact Microsoft means just that - contact Microsoft. Quote: "To
resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support
Services to obtain the fix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product
Support Services phone numbers..."

Call 1-800-936-4900 (press 3 for hotfixes) and tell them you are
calling to obtain the hotfix described in Q82442. They should have you
fixed up in a matter of minutes and that includes the emailed
instructions for obtaining the hotfix.
