Contacts collapsing upon switch to inbox

J

Johnny P.

This is probably a remarkably stupid question, but I
can't find a preference/options tab or FAQ answer to
this: we have a large database in outlook 2003 that I'm
constantly working in during the day...emails come in
constantly, and I hate leaving the preview pane on a
setting that holds the message for a long time. I'd
rather just go to the inbox and read messages all at
once. So...whenever I switch to email I lose my place in
the contacts section because it automatically collapses
all of my groups and I lose my place! Again, this is
probably a quick fix, but I can't find it. Thanks in
advance for your help.

I just replied to the same message you posted in another group...possibly
microsoft.public.outlook.contacts. You can follow the thread there.

For future reference, if you must cross-post, it is better to post the same
message to all the relevant newsgroups at once (please keep it down to the
bare minimum!) by including all the newsgroup names in the "Newsgroups"
field in the header of your message. That way, the same thread is visible
in all of the groups, including all replies. Posting the same message
individually to more than one group is called mulitposting and is generally
considered to be bad newsgroup etiquette.

Didn't mean to engage in bad newsgroup etiquette. This
was my very first post and I wasn't sure if the first one
(in contacts) went through, so instead of possibly double
posting there, I came out to the general group.

Thanks for the help...that fixed the problem.

Glad I could help, and everyone is new at some point -- so don't worry about
it. Sometimes new posts/replies are very slow to show up in the group,
especially when you use the web interface (as opposed to a newsreader
program such as Outlook Express)...so it is usually a good idea to wait an
hour or even longer to see if your post will show up. Most do, eventually.
