Contacts Disappear From Exchange Server

Running Entourage 2008 against Exchange Server 2003. Yesterday I did two things:

1. Verify and rebuild identity database.
2. Applied latest Mac Office software update (12.1.2).

Noticed at the end of the day that all my contacts had disappeared from the Exchange server. They still remain in Entourage, but nothing in Exchange.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? And, does anyone know how I can get my contacts back on the server? The server should be "Truth" for my data.

Thanks.

You should immediately back up the contacts you have,
Since you have an Exchange server account, you have two locations for
contacts. The On my computer address book, and the Exchange one.
If your contacts are all in the On my computer address book, it could
explain what you see. You could then chose to copy or move the contacts
to the Exchange address book to correct the issue,

I did back up my contacts immediately. I exported as a list and copied them to a folder on my desktop.

In Entourage, all my contacts are in the Exchange address book -- not the "On My Computer" address book. So, I did as you suggested, copied them to the On My Computer address book and then copied them back again to the Contacts address book under the Exchange server account in Entourage. Entourage later updated contacts on the Exchange server and it appears all is good.

THANK YOU Corentin!

However, do you have any idea what might have caused this to happen in the first place?
