Contacts display as

I have tried all of the solution center suggestions but my contacts still
display last name then first name. I have changed the settings in the address
books a well as the individula contacts but that doesn't fix it.

Is it showing this in the Address book or on the actual contacts? The
setting in Outlook only applies to new contacts. To change existing contacts
you need to do it individually or using VBA - see
http://www.slipstick.com/contacts/file-as.htm

It actually is correct in the individual contacts but when I look in the
phone list view it is wrong. Also I have set-up the address books to be First
then LAst and they also display incorrectly

What version of Outlook? What format is currently used?

If its correct on each Contact, then you need to go into the Address book
settings and check - the options are to use First Last or File as. In
Outlook 2007, this is at tools, account settings, Address books - select the
outlook address book and click Change. If the option is set correctly,
change it, apply then change it back.

The file as is set correctly in the individual contacts.

The "show names by "first then last is set correctly in the address book and
it still displays incorrectly.

I had to restore the contacts after a computer crash and the new contacts I
have added seem to be displaying correctly. I also noticed that my recovered
calendar appointments do not cause the date to be bold in the preview window.

In the Tools>Options>ContactOptions I have set the preference to First Last
and also in the Tools>Account Settings>AddressBooks I have set the preference to First Last (John Smith).

Still My outlook files all contacts as Last, First unless if I go and specifically change each one.
When I enter a new contact it files it as Last, First by default.

Please let me know if there is anything that I am missing or if something can be done to correct this issue.
I am using MS Office professional Plus 2007.

Outlook is simply doing what you've told it to. Your post is too vague for
us to tell what that is.
You did not specify what field you are referring to nor what you want to
achieve. If you can successfully convey that, we can tell you what you're
doing wrong.

Are new contacts filed correctly? Change the full name and file as setting
in contact options applies to new items.

The address book setting applies only to the address book (seen when you
click To in an new message.) It will apply to all items, old and new.
