Contacts don't come up from Navigation Pane

In Outlook 2003 the Navigation Pane has a bar
titled "Contacts." When clicked, however, it doesn't
generate the contacts window. To get Contacts, I have to
select Display All Folders and then select the Contacts
folder. All the other Navigation Pane buttons work just
fine. Any help out there???

What does it generate instead?
How many Personal Folders and how many Contact Folders do you have in this
profile?
Where are you selecting "Display All Folders?"

The main window (the large one to the right where I
expect to see Contacts) doesn't change. If it is the Task
List, it remains the Task List. If Inbox, it remains
Inbox. The area immediately above the four or five
buttons on the bottom of the Navigation Pane changes to
be the View menu for whatever is in the main window. So,
if the Task List is in the main window and I click the
Contacts button on the bottom on the Navigation Pane, the
middle area of the Navigation Pane changes to give me a
selection of Task List views (Simple List, Detailed List,
etc.)
I have only one Personal Folder and within that folder I
have only one Contact folder.
The Folder List is one of the buttons on the bottom of
the Navigation Pane.

Thanks in advance for taking an interest. I'm completely
frustrated.

Sounds like a problem with your views, then, not your Contacts. Try starting
Outlook once with the /cleanviews switch.
If you aren't sure how to do that, type "Command-line switches" in Outlook's
Help.
