Contacts' folder appears 3 times

Jeannie

Hi,
We have started migrating our users to Outlook 2003 with an integrated
management system (Hummingbird's DM5). We have one user in our pilot group
who has full access to her boss's mailbox who sees her boss's Contacts'
folder 3 times, each one identical.
I was wondering if anyone else had ever experienced this problem and if a
solution can be found before we migrate everyone
Thanks
Jeannie

Jeannie,
I just reinstalled Outlook 2003 (via Office 2003, SP3) and am seeing 2
similar problems. I don't know the fixes yet. What I see is (a) 2 contacts
folders. The first one is empty, the second has all my address book names in
it. Because the first one is there and empty, when I try to use it (e.g.,
create new email and press "To" to see names in the address book) all I get
is an error that the address list cannot be displayed.
I also have my Personal Folders Folder showing up twice, yet it's exactly
the same folder and contents and getting new mail or editing it makes changes
real time to both.
If I find an answer to this, I'll let you know.

Jeanne,
I just found out how to fix your problem - see the thread below listed as
"Subject: Re: Multiple Folders Named "Contact" in Outlook 2003 2/11/2008".
I used this to solve the Contacts problem. Now I just need to solve the
Personal Folders one, but that's not your problem. :)

Is there some reason you thought this was an Outlook issue and not an
Exchange issue? I would have posted this to an Exchange group.

This is a corrupt mail profile issue, often caused by importing from a PST
(although there are other causes as well). Your easiest solution is to
create a new mail profile.

Sorry, creating a new profile did not work and the Address Book solution did
not work either. This seems to be a view issue in Outlook. When you use the
folder list there is only one contact folder for the boss, the 3 appearances
are only there when you use the Contact icon in the Navigation pane.

The following has been tried so far:
- recreating the profile on the user's workstation
- repaired Outlook
- created the profile on another workstation and still the contacts appear 3
times
- created a new Windows profile
- renamed the reg folder

This only happens with her boss' contacts (and calendar) not with her own,
and only when using the icons on the navigation pane, not the Outlook Folder
List.

Any further help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
