I take that back. The contacts worked from the TO line until I closed
Outlook and reopened it. Now, again, I get the message that the
Contacts folder is not linked to my email addresses. I'm about to
tear my hair out!
The contacts are stored in the PST file -- right? Then they should be
in my OUTLOOK.PST file, which is on the D
rive -- where it has been
for months.
In the C
ocuments & Settings folder, I have some Outlook files under
Local Settings and some under Application Data. Other Outlook files
are on the D: drive in the same folder as my OUTLOOK.PST.
When I compose a new email, click TO - it opens to Contacts; there is
nothing there. I can drop-down and select the next line, also called
Contacts, and find a lot of Contacts that seem to be from June. They
contain duplicates, which I weeded out in early July. Although I can
SEE the names of those contacts, I am not allowed to select them.
So it appears that I have two CONTACTS someplace; one empty, and
another old. The "real" contacts seems to have gone missing entirely.
Is there anyway to fix this fine mess?

||Is your Outlook Address Book service installed correctly? If it does show, then remove it, close Outlook, re-add it, close and restart Outlook. See any one of Russ' answers for how to configure the Outlook Address Book Service for step by step directions.
||
||If this does not fix it, then try a new mail profile.

||| MICROSOFT OUTLOOK
||| The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder
