Contacts - Name order

How do I change the contacts from first name alpha order
to last name alpha order when sending a new message?

Change them where? In what view? In what Outlook version?

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but go
to tools, options, and click on the contact options
button. The sort options are there.
