Contacts need to delete under Journal in Outlook 2002

If anyone can help me here I would greatly appreciate it.
We have a user with a mysterious occurance of contacts
appearing within his Journal. Doesn't know how it got
there?
Now when he has a new contact it goes to the new contact
listing under Journal as opposed to his old one and
regular one. The issue is that he doesn't want the second
one in the Journal and would like to delete, but I cannot
do so as it is grayed out and will not allow me to do so?
