Contacts not showing up in Address Book under Word

Office XP
Using the Envelopes and Lables function
I click on the book icon and no addresses show up under Address Book; I then change to contacts and all my contacts (with a name) show up
Twice I have performed the routine of
1. Outlook Tools > email accounts > view or change existing directories and remove the Outlook address book entr
2. restart Outlook and add Outlook address book, and restart Outlook
3. Check Outlook Contacts properties to ensure that address book box is checked
4. I took Word down and restarted.
There are still no entires under Address Book when I use the Envelopes and Labels tool under Word
Any ideas? Thanks....

Sounds normal to me.
That's where your Contacts should be. In Contacts.
They never appear in the Address Book. The Address Book is just a shell that
holds your Contacts Folders.

Thanks for your repsonse, Russ but my understanding is that the contacts should show up under the address book under the Envelopes and Labels function when the application is set up correctly. Contacts show up under the Address Book in Outlook. Why not under the Envelopes and Labels function? Thanks....

No they don't.
Never have.
Invoke your Address Book in Outlook. Use the dropdown in "Show Names from
the:"
You'll see how the hierarchy is constructed.

OK, thanks. How do I have Contacts initially show up in the drop-down boxpanel when using Envelopes & Labels without having to change the source from Address Book to Contacts? Thanks

You can't. There's no such setting in Word. Only in Outlook.

Open the Address Book.
Tools > Options... >Show this Address List first
