Contacts should have multiple birthdays for families as one contac

Contacts only allow 1 birthday per contact. When entering couples or families
as a single contact (rather than a separate contact for each family member),
I cannot find a way of entering birthdays for all members. The birthday field
is great 'cause it comes up on the calendar, but only 1 per contact.
