contacts show as question marks

Greetings and thanks for your help.

We had a file full of arabic contacts that we transferred
from an i-mate with Pocket PC to Outlook. Now, all the
contacts just show up as '?????'. Arabic is completely
enabled.

1. Was the file damaged in the transfer?

2. Now the contacts are in a PST file. I tried using
scanpst.exe but I still see '?????'.

Can anyone help?
