i have lost my contacts from outlook, i have a backup of my hard drive but am unable to find the file that the contacts is saved in. can anyone help?

i have tried that, the only file i have found is one called migapp. what i would like to do is find the directory on my back up c drive and copy it into the new directory on the c drive that should contain the contacts.

Not sure I understand your question.
Are you having trouble finding the correct PST file or not?
Do you mean you want to overwrite one PST file with another? Not a good
idea. If you want Outlook to use a different PST file, configure Outlook to
do so.
The file you need to back up is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's
where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.
