When I begin to enter a name in the 'to' field it gives
me a list of names, the one that I want is never in that
option. Say I type in 'craig' I get many craigs, some of
which are no longer in my contact list.

what I have to do is type the entire name. why does the
one that i want never come up, even though its saved in
contacts?

Because autocompletion does not use your Contacts. It uses a list of names
to which you have previously sent messages.
