Contacts

I am looking to add 100's of contacts in One Note and wanted to know what the
best way to do this is. Contacts in Outlook will remain to be a source but I
want to put more detailed information in One Note. Do I make new Folders,
sections, sub-folders ?? I would like everything to be smooth, organized and
easy to search.

You can organize however you wish; If you're looking to add lots of
information for each contact, probably one contact per page, and split
into different sections as needed. All text and content on the pages
will be searchable.

Having said that, OneNote is not a PIM, and if you're already planning to
keep the "master" information in Outlook, why not add this extra data
there? You can use the large notes field on the General tab of the
Outlook contact, and the Details nad Activities tabs have a lot of
additional information about each contact as well. You should see what
you can do within Outlook before extending out to a product not designed
for contact management.

OneNote 2007 does this automatically from Outlook 2007.
You just click on a button in Outlook that says ... "Make Notes" (ie.
on this contact).
Appears to work well.

Thank you for your feedback Erik. The one thing I am really liking about
OneNote is the ability to throw all my data on a memory stick. Because of
it's size, throwing Outlook on a stick, the file could get very large very
quick unless I was to export just the contact info to the stick. What is
your opinion on that ? Maybe I am missing something in that regards. To be
honest with you, my ultimate goal is to create a form in which I would be
entering data as I received the various detailed information on the contact.

Thanks ..

Why don't you create a separate PST file for your contacts?

If you aim to stay within Outlook for your contact-related information,
you'll be better positioned to take advantage of some of the new features
in Vista. Also, if you got yourself a copy of TEO, you'd be able to do
some really cool things with handwritten notes on your contacts. :)
