Contents of word change to square box or rubbish when click save

Help !! part of the contents in word change to square box or unrecognise
character when click save or print. I have finished 20 pages of my report,
unfortunately the contents in first few pages become unreadable, this
happened very often, anyone can help me urgently ?

Sounds like possibly a corrupt printer driver. Make sure that you have the
latest driver downloaded and then delete and reinstall your printer.

Tested, but failed to resolve it. The situation getting worse, save the
report & open again, the contents change, sometime even typying half way, the
contents change to unrecognise character, any other idea or solution ? TQ

Have you treated the document as corrupt? See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm. If you have Word 2003,
try using the Open and Repair option.

Thanks for the help, but the problem doesn't solve by using open & repair
option.
Let me ellaborate more details.

All my word files save in network shared folder, during editing, the
contents will chg to unrecognised character, but if I edit the document in my
hard disk, this problem will not happen, is that a problem in server or word
application ? we have more than 70 users in the office & only 3 pc's having
this problem.

Check through the server & can't find anything wrong, if this is server
problem, why other users not affected ?

Hi Carynne,

It could be a font availability issue or that there isn't a printer driver selected in File=>Print for those users that have that
particular driver available locally.

Does the problem still occur if you use the Tools=>Options setting to 'always make a local copy...' ?

I'm also having this problem. We recently upgraded to Office 2003 from Office
XP. Its been reported by people in different departments but not by everyone.
Occasionally text will condense or compress into a single line. One person
had a paragraph compress into the space of a single character. She closed
Word and reopened and the document was fine. But closeing and opening Word
when this happens is not an answer. I did go out and apply whatever Windows
and Office patches there were. This did not fix it.

I suspect that Word is not seeing the printer correctly. Are you using a
network printer as the windows default? Are the workstations able to see
these printers correctly all the time?
