OK - this is driving me nuts. Every time i add a new numbered bullet point to a current list, it automatically assumes that I am starting a new list and makes it a one. How can I turn that off? I'm writing a questionnaire with 50 points and each one comes in as "1".

Any assistance would be appreciated. Cause I'm not getting it from Microsoft!

Typically, Bulleting as well as Numbering works as expected. When you press
return at the end of a bulleted or numbered paragraph the next paragraph is
bulleted or issued the next number in the sequence.

If you're experiencing something other than that you'll need to be much more
explict about exactly what you're doing, exactly how you're going about it,
& what specific features you're using [Step-by-Step]. We can probably help
get it straight, but it's hard to determine why you're getting the results
you are without knowing what you're actually doing - Bullets & Numbers can
be applied in several different ways.

OK, it's complex :)

Numbering and Bullets are the same thing internally: "attributes" of a "List
Style".

A List Style, in turn, is one of the kinds of styles that Word can have or
create.

Sadly, there is almost no documentation from in Word 2008 about Styles, and
none at all about List Styles.

Start here:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HA011876141033.aspx

That's about Word 2003 but Word 2008 is exactly the same. You could do
worse than buy Stephanie's book, it's very good.

Once you understand List Styles, you will understand that whenever a
different style appears between two list style lists, Word will start a new
list.

If you want to create a "continue-able" list, you need to specify an Outline
list type, which you will get automatically with a List Style.

Hope this helps
