Continuous show

Mark A. Sam

Hello,

I have a presentation with 814 slides and want it to run continuously.
According to help I need set up rehearsed timings to do this. Is there a
way to set this up once for all slides to run at the same amount of time?

Thank you and God Bless,

Mark A. Sam

If it was me - i would not use 'rehearse timings' as this would take
forever!

on your 'slideshow' menu there is an option to set the 'transitions' or
(wipes) of each slide, also on this menu is a setting called

"advance automatically after x seconds"

I'd tick this and set each slide to an appropriate amount of time .eg 2
seconds.

I'd untick the 'on mouse click' option

Man, don't know what is going on but hope this doesn't post twice. My
computer says I sent the first copy of this at 4:36 PM EST but hasn't shown.
Had same thing when going through another newserver last night.

In PPT 2003 or earlier, click SlideShow on title bar, Slide Transition,
Click Advance Slide, set the amount of time for each slide, turn off On
mouse click, and then click Apply to All Slides. Save the show and then run
the show to see if is what you want.

For PPT 2007, click the Animations tab in the Ribbon, on the right end of
the new ribbon set the amount of time for the Advance Slide and turn off the
On Mouse Click. Click Apply to All (just to the left of the Automatically
After...,) and save the presentation.

Two other things you can do to assist is:

1. Set up a default transition and transition speed before clicking the
Apply To All.

2. Set up to Browse at a Kiosk located in Slide Show, Set Up Show (all PPT
versions.) Check "Use timings, if present" and "Browsed at a kiosk (full
screen)" which automatically turns on Loop continuously...

Hope this helps, let us know.

Hello TAJ,

I had already tried this early on. It doesn't do it. That is why I thought
rehearsed timings might be the method.

Hello LV,

Tried everything suggested by you and TAV with no success. The slideshow
just doesn't advance on its own.

God Bless,

Mark

Yep, and it's easy.

Go into Slide Sorter view, press Ctrl+A to select all slides at once.

Then set the slide transition as you normally would; Automatically After
<howevermany> seconds.

I wouldn't think I'd have to select all of the slides when setting the
timing, but it didn't help, unfortunately. The slide still won't advance.

Mark,

OK - ALSO do this...

open your presentation

slideshow menu > set up show

make sure "presented by a speaker full screen" is selected.

That should do the trick.

while you are that menu see if

Show slides > "all" is selected

cheers

That didn't help. There might be something wrong with my installation. I
can't close out or Powerpoint without closing the process in the task
manager. I'd think it would work just by clicking the option and setting
the time without considering any other options.

I think we should get your PowerPoint running properly before we spend too
much time worrying about the slide advance issue.
What version are you using? If 2007 see here:

Have you re-started your computer recently?

Have you run detect & repair?

Have you installed all the latest updates?

Well ... you have to select the slides you want to apply timings to, else
PPT
only applies changes to the currently selected slide, if any. That's
just
how it works.

I did that, I was just rambling on. ;)
But from your other post, it sounds like there's something about your
Office/PPT installation that's bunged. I'd shut it down, power down your
computer, power it up again after five or ten minutes, start PPT then do a
detect and repair to see if it finds any problems.

I have done that on Office within the last couple months, but will do it
again. I also allied update last week, but I don't think they got
installed. After the installation, I was asked if I wanted to update and
when I did the check, the same updates were suggested.

Do you have music or video on the first slide?

No, only jpgs. Something goofy did occur however while create the show. I
initially create three slide shows to keep the size down then decided to
make a single show, so I copied the first show, then copied and pasted the
slides from the second and third into it. At one time I tried pasting about
300 slides. Some of them appeared as broken links, so I redid it pasting
only 50 at a time. However this problem occured from the start when I had
only a few slides and was playing around with Powerpoint. Could a file
become corrupted like an Access database?

Yes a couple days ago, but this was a problem before and after

I tried but don't know if they got installed. I did this becuase Powerpoint
won't close unless I bring up the task manager and close the process.

Thanks for all of your help, but I'm going to do this in Microsoft Access.
That is what I know, so there will be no learning curve and I can control
the presentation through programming.

God Bless,
