Contour & spread remaining work

P

I have had the request to determine if it is possible to contour work and
allow Project to evenly spread the remaining work. For example, Resource 1
has 100 hours of work over the course of 100 working days. The PM would like
to contour, specifying that Resource 1 will work 10 hours on this task on
January 1, and have Project:

1) Leave the Work at 100 hours
2) Spread the remaining 90 hours evenly over the other 99 working days
(without having to type in the remaining fractional hours into each column).

Is this possible? I know you can “un-contour†by changing the assignment
back to Flat, but this changes the work on the day you just typed in as well.

Project will find it difficult to understand your intent on something like
this.
You can change the work contour from either the Resouce Usage View or the
Task Usge view by double clicking an item. The Asignment Information Dialog
Box appears and there is a drop down for work contour that offers several
choices.

Other than that, a macro can be written. As you said, from either of those
view you can hand type the custom contour of your choice.
