Contract Resource loading Help

I am resource loading a task that is contracted out. I'm
using the method recommended in T. Pyron's Book (fixed
duration task, associate a vendor resource, set units to
zero, enter cost). The problem is that MS Project enters
the ENTIRE cost at the beginning of the task. Since the
task has a duration is there any way to make MS Project
spread the cost over of the duration of the task? I
thought of using a fixed cost, but then I'd lose the
association with the vendor. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Hi,

I'd set units to a tiny number such as 0,01.
Somebody will need that sort of work just to track the vendor I guess.

That doesn't work because if I set the units to anything
0, then MS Project won't allow me to manually input the
cost in the cost field (because it now wants to calculate
it).

Actually if the resource is a contractor I'd suggest accruing 100% of the
cost at the EN D of the task rather than prorating it. With a contractor
you usually don't owe anything until they deliver and then the whole balance
becomes due.
