Word uses fields for this. Go to File > Properties. There are some fields
permanently defined on the Summary tab, and you can define any others you
need on the Custom tab.

You can add fields by selecting Insert > Field or by pressing Ctrl-F9. You
can use TITLE and SUBJECT fields for those properties, or DocProperty fields
for all the others, eg

..... this is a contract with { DocProperty Company } ...

After you've added the field, select it and press F9 to update its result.
Press Alt-F9 to toggle between seeing the field code (with the curly braces)
or the field result (the text you want to end up with).

You can also put your data in another Word table. Excel spreadsheet or
Access database and use Word's MailMerge feature (under "Tools" menu).
