Contractors Unable to Access Data Analysis Tool in PWA 2007

Our program has recently transitioned to MSPS 2007, with our
enterprise PMO administering it. We have been working with them to
begin utilizing the Data Analysis tool in PWA for our reporting needs,
but we have run into a problem with this because it will not work on
contractors' laptops. We have several contractors on our team who
will need to use the data analysis tool for reporting on a weekly
basis. Because our Project Web Access accounts are set up to use
Windows authentication, the reporting tool is looking for an ID that
does not match the ID that contractors use to log in to PWA on the
client's network.

We have tried opening an IE window and going to Tools - Internet
Options - Security - Custom Level - Active-X Options - Miscellaneous -
Access data sources across domains...this option should be set to
"Enable", but even then the tool will not work properly. The message
a consultant receives when they click on Data Analysis is: "The query
could not be processed. Safety settings on this machine prohibit
accessing a data source on another domain."

Has anyone encountered this issue and found a resolution for it? The
only option our team has right now is to find spare client laptops for
contractors to use.

Thank you!

Hello, I would connect directly to the OLAP cube(s) using Excel, that way you
bypass Project Server security.

Hi,

Try setting the same option for Trusted Sites Group.

Tools - Internet Options - Security - Custom Level - Active-X Options -
Miscellaneous - Access data sources across domains...this option should be
set to
"Enable".

I had the same issue and resolved by setting Trusted Sites.

Thanks,
Muthukkumaran. R
