control movement smoother

when i move around controls in design mode, the movement is very 'coarse'.
is there a setting somewhere that will allow the placement and location of
controls to be 'smoother' or more 'fine'.
example: when i need to relocate a control to the left a bit, the smallest
movement it makes puts it too far to the left, it goes 1/8" instead of the
1/16" i want it to move.

In VBA, go to Tools > Options. On the General tab you can set the grid to a
smaller value, or switch it off. You an also set control positions precisely
by entering the Top and Left properties in the properties window.

that option is changeable in the 'view-code app' but not in the word-app. i
changed it in the vba-app-menu, and exited and reopened the file, but i
still get very coarse movement.
any other ideas? it's very annoying.'also-the properties for the control to
top-left align do not exist.

Sorry, I assumed you were talking about UserForm controls.

Controls on a document are not free-floating. Positioning is exactly as for
other document elements, using tabs, paragraph alignment, etc.
