control of foreign language versions of Word

I have been writing some code to automate the generation of html to a certain
predefined format from various language versions of Word. For the danish
version of Word I have noticed that whilst the styles Heading 1 Heading 2 etc
are renamed to Overskrift 1 Overskift 2 etc however when the document is
saved as an rtf no language translation occurs within the underlying rtf
codings (ie heading 1 heading 2 etc are retained)

Is this the case in all non english language versions of Word in particular
the Spanish version.

All assistance appreciated
