Control Panel Display Defaults

Windows XP Prof ... System lost power ... Consequently, I
believe system performed an illegal shut-down ... From
here my college kids attempted to power up ... When
desktop did not look correct they altered "Control Panel
Display Settings" in effort to restore PC to original
state. We are not there ... Now that I am involved (I am
certainly not an expert either) I attempted 3-4 System
Restore Points, but continued to receive message that
system could not be restored to the Restore Point I was
selecting.

Bottom line ... how do I restore my "Display" settings
(Control Panel Display) back to their default settings???

Thanks ... Kha
