Hello,
Note: please read this through before you mention frames and bringing
objects forward!
I'm not sure that this is even an Access issue exactly, but here's the
situation. We have several Access dbs which we've developed in-house over
the years, old and recent, converted to Access 2003 and not, simple and
complex... all of which have at least a few custom Control Tip Text entries
on form controls.
We've finished rolling out Office 2003 on WinXP and are finding that on
about half our 250-ish computers, control tips do not appear when they should
(when the mouse pointer rests on the control for a second or three). It is
machine-specific, not database specific. Desktop A and Desktop B may open
the same database and the control tips show on one but do not show on the
other. Uninstalling and reinstalling Office doesn't help. The same
installation source was used for all machines and a full install was
requested. Service pack 1 vs. 2 seems to have no bearing. The built-in Quick
tips are still appearing in the standard application objects, such as
toolbars. Custom status bar text entries are appearing properly on all
machines. On computers that aren't showing CTT, pausing the pointer over the
control still causes the control to change color, indicating that the
mouseover is being detected. The only thing that seems to be failing is the
tips actually being 'drawn' on the screen.
I have a sneaky feeling the problem is actually in some remote Windows
setting, possibly even unrelated to Access, but have no idea where to look.
Anyone else having this experience? Any ideas from the MVPs/genii on the
list?
Thanks
