Control Toolbox toolbar won't go away!

I have a template file I'm using with certain docs in Word 2000. I added a
macro to the template last night. Now, whenever a doc that has this template
file attached is opened, the Control Toolbox toolbar appears. I close it,
but it opens again next time. How can I close it for good with documents
with this template?

Thanks.

You are probably running with "High" security settings, which disables
macros without asking (the appearance of the Control Toolbox usually
indicates disabled macros.) You can check this by setting to "Medium", which
will give you a prompt before disabling macros.

The best way around this is to place your template in either the User
Templates or Workgoup Templates folders, and make sure that the setting to
Trust Templates and Add-ins is checked in your security options.

We actually went ahead and placed the macro in its own template file so that
the documents wouldn't have to deal with the security issues. We are adding
it as a global template under Templates and Add-Ins. Only thing is, there
doesn't seem to be a way to keep the box checked so that the template
remains active between sessions of Word. Is there a way to add it as a
global template without having to recheck the box under Templates and
Add-Ins each time?

You can (1) store it on a network drive and (2) have each user's login
script update to the user's Word startup folder from that source upon login.
An alternative is to have a shortcut to the file in each user's startup
folder but that requires all users quitting Word to make any modifications.
Either the file or a shortcut to the file needs to be in the users Word
startup folder for it to be loaded on restarting Word. (You could put code
in a template that is loaded, to load this one, instead, I suppose.)

See http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step
instructions on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up customizations
including AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, toolbars, macros,
etc.
