That's a broad question. The control toolbox contains activeX controls which
can be placed on worksheets and userforms to provide a rich control
environment. These can be controlled using VBA code.

There is a toolbox fro 'Forms' also which has similar controls to use on
worksheets/userforms. These are nowhere near as flexible as the activeX
versions but are probably easier to use, particularly on worksheets
