Control X (ctrl-x) cut does not work in word

I'm getting a strange error. I am not able to ctrl-x to cut the
selected text in word. My version of word is 2003 Trial SP1. I'm
able to do a ctrl-x on any other windows app but not word. Has anyone
experienced this?

First item to check is for a virus as this is the symptom of some viruses.
If it isn't a virus, check under Customisation that Ctrl+X hasn't been
assigned to some other commend in Word.

I understand what happened. I set a macro to have a key combo of
ctrl+x, p (I have Emacs background, hence my decision to use Ctrl+x).
This actually changed my cut from ctrl+x to shift+del. I think I
better change the cut back to ctrl+x, and find a new key combo for
this macro.

Thanks for you suggestion.
