Control X, cut command doesn't work word 2003 help

In Microsoft Office 2003 and within Word, the 'control X', cut command does
function. Nothing happens. And the paste will not show that either. It will
paste from 'control c'. Is there a setting i'm missing that some how was
reset?

In the Customize Keyboard dialog box, which you can open via Tools |
Customize, verify that Ctrl+X is assigned to the EditCut command.
