Controlling cursor jumps in section protected document

Hi there,

I couldn't find help about my problem after hours of researching. So,
I hope somebody here could help:

I have a rather simple problem: I have a document with two sections.
Section 1 is protected (fill-in forms only), Section 2 unprotected.
When the user moves the cursor to the very end of the document, the
cursor automatically jumps back to the beginning of section 2.
However, I would like to cursor to remain at the end (as it is the
case in any Word document without section protection).

Any ideas how I can prevent the cursor to jump back to the beginning?
With or without VBA?

Thanks a lot in advance!
Stephan

Word version? If you tab through the fields in Section 1, having completed
those fields, the cursor moves to the start of the unprotected section. You
can (or should be able to) select any pre-existing location in the
unprotected section, including the end of the document (which if there is
nothing in Section 2 will be the start of Section 2). How does your document
differ from this? And what would you prefer to happen.

Hi Graham,

I am using Word 2003. The document doesn't contain any fields in
section 1. The only reason I use the two sections is to protect data
in the beginning of the document. In section 2, the user is able to
enter any text. However, at the end of section 2 (being the end of the
document), if one hits the "cursor down" key, the cursor jumps up to
the beginning of section 2. I just want to avoid this behavior so that
the cursor remains at the end of the document.

Does this make sense now?

Thanks a lot,
Steph

OK, it makes sense, but I am not sure that it is possible.

It might be simpler to put the fixed information in the first page header
and forego the protection, which would also overcome the cursor movement.
The protection will not prevent anyone from changing the text and the header
should prevent accidental changes.

Thanks Graham! I agree with the header alternative, and at least I can
stop trying to block that cursor behavior!

Thanks for your time and help - highly appreciated!
