Controlling Word 98 in Classic with AppleScript

I have an AppleScript that is used to paste data from Excel 98 to Word
98. It was created in OS 9, and runs fine in OS 9. However, when
Office is run via Classic, the script no longer works. It starts to
run, then eventually times out.

If I open the editable version of the script in the Classic Script
Editor, it will run.

I tried saving the same script via the OS X Script Editor, but that
won't work either.

Is it possible to control Office 98 in Classic with AppleScript?

Thank you,

Kristina

From someone who knows nothing re applescript:

It sounds as though the script will run if you are already in Classic when
you trigger it, but not if you are in OS X when you trigger it?

I suppose the script needs some code to tell it to "go into emulator and use
those programs." Possible to add a bit at the beginning to activate
classic, a short delay, then run the rest of the script?

Alternatively, does Classic have its own script menu to use to activate it?

Yes, I guess that seems to be true.

That sounds like a really good idea. I'll give it a shot.

I'm not sure, but that got me thinking that if having the script
activate Classic doesn't work, maybe I could start the script via a
macro in Excel 98.

Thank you so much for your help!

I found a really simple solution on the Apple website, and thought I'd
post back. You "Get Info" on the script in question, and then check the
"Open in the Classic Environment" check box. It was that easy!
