Controls on form stopped working

Access seems to periodically do strange things, but this one has me at a
loss. I am using Access 2000 and I have a form with the tab control pages
on it Some of the tab control pages are subforms, and some are off the data
in the main form. There are navigation buttons at the bottom of the screen
to go to different records, like first, last, next, etc. The form worked
perfectly 2 days ago.
I added another tab control page yesterday morning that has a subform as
it's data. Now, the navigation buttons don't work. I checked the event
procedure and macros behind them, and they seem to run okay. Here is the
strangest part. If I click on some of the functions in the menu, like Sort
Ascending, and then try clicking on the buttons at the bottom, they work the
way they are supposed to work.
I tried writing code to have the form automatically sort on open to mimick
this situation and it doesn't make the buttons work like clicking on the
sort button did.
Does anyone have an answer?

Thank you for the help.
