Conventions for saying 'thanks'?

Are there guidelines in these newsgroups for non-technical
responses, such as Thanks!!!!!! ? I am overwhelmed by
the usefulness of the newsgroup. Have never experienced
such speedy and useful responses.

However other newsgroups have asked people not to indulge
in "thank yous" as other members waste time reading them.

Let me know if there are guidelines.

In any event THANKS!!!!! to the many folks who have helped
me so far!!!!

The only way we know if the advice worked is if you POST
and TELL US! So your 'thanks' are actually an important
contribution to the way this newsgroup works. And the
more detail, the more we learn from your experience :)

On the other hand, just 'Thanks' irritates folks on slow
diallup accounts, so if you aren't going to add any new
information, use the subject line to say 'Thanks', and
truncate the reply :)
