Conversion Help

My boss is retiring soon and wants to move his Outlook 2000 for Windows
mail and contacts to his Mac at home that has Entourage 2004. I am his
support person on the job but we are all Windows so I have no clue
about Mac's and if this is possible? I did see a translation utility
on the Microsoft Office for Mac site that talks about dealing with PST
files but it appears from the DOC that it is designed from PST's from
Outlook for the Mac not Outlook for Windows. I can find no mention of
converting his contact list either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My boss is a good guy and I
would like to help him out this one last time.

Thanks

Greg

I had a very difficult time trying to convert my Windows .PST files.
I have forgotten what I did. If I'm not mistaken, I just started over
In Apple Mail.

But you can export his Outlook Contacts to a comma-delimited plain text
file, then import it into Entourage 2004.

You will only be able to export his Calendar to a comma-delimited plain text
File, then import it into Entourage 2004. However, this will not import
Events which are repeating. Just the events themselves.

I have had great success using Outlook2Mac ($10 from www.littlemachines.com)
to convert huge PST files, some including calendars, email and contacts,
some just email, to Mac files suitable for importing into Entourage, Apple
Mail and/or iCal. I've used it only on Outlook 2003-format PSTs, so can't
report on its efficacy on Outlook 2000 conversion. But the vendor claims it
handles files from Outlook 98 and up.

I just went through this and spent weeks trying to find a way to
successfully move my mail and attachments. I ended up spending the $10
for Outlook2Mac and did it in a single day.

I'd recommend spending the $10. It's worth it.

Agreed, that should do the job for mail & attachments. For contacts,
calendar events, tasks, and notes, check out Paul Berkowitz's "Export-Import
Entourage" script package.
