Conversion of special characters in Word

Hi,

Is it possible to stop Word from converting special
characters, e.g., < or >, to the corresponding HTML code
when a Word document is converted into HTML?

I want to embed a small amount of HTML into a Word 2000
document and not have Word convert the characters
associated with the embedded tag. That is, if a < is in
the document, Word should not convert it to &gt; during
conversion.
