Will my Office:Mac 2004 convert PC Word and Excel documents to Mac documents?

There are no "Mac" documents & "PC" documents ‹ the relative file formats
are the same on both platforms. Office 2004 will handle files created by
Office 97-2004 originating on PC or Mac. In order to open files in the OXML
formats native to Office 2008 (Mac) & 2007 (PC) you need to download the
Converters available on the Mactopia web site:

If you're updates are current (11.5.1) Office 2004 apps will directly open
OXML files of their respective type. Otherwise you'll have to drag files to
the converter app before you'll be able to open them... But I'd highly
recommend updating if you haven't already done so.

Note: There may still be some discrepancies with certain files transferred
from Mac to PC & vice versa depending on content, fonts, etc.
