We have an Access 2000 database that was converted in July
from Access 97. Since that time the database has come
down about six times, with same problem each time. We
have been unable to repair using the 'compact and
repair'. The database allows you to open it and add
records. When you try to update, it gives 'there was an
error executing the command'. The table can be opened in
design view, but when you try to open it to view the
records, it gives 'invalid argument' error, then click ok
and get error 'databasename can't open the table in
Datasheet view'.

Any ideas on how to retrieve the records in this table?

Or any clue as to why this could be happening?
Thank you.

Hi,

My name is Amy Vargo. Thank you for using the Microsoft Access Newsgroups.

What is the size of your database file? You might see this error if the
database is near the 2 GB size limit.
Also, verify that you have the latest service packs applied for your
version of Access and for Jet.

Try updating Jet, then import the objects from this database into a new
blank database and see if the issue occurs in the new database.
