convert 97 forms to 2002 format

We have currently upgraded to Word 2002 from 97. We had
created several templates with form fields in 97 format.
When opening any file based on these templates in 2002, it
takes several minutes to open each time. Does anyone know
what would be causing this?

Hi Linda,

The most likely cause is that Word can no longer find the
template used to create the individual documents (different
path). You should make sure the path still exists, or change
it via Tools/Template and Addins/Attach for each document.

The path for the templates is still the same. I tried
reattaching it, but the templates are protected and cannot
be reattached.

Then you have a problem, I'm afraid, you won't be able to
solve unless you can unprotect these files.
