You can't. Not to a previous version, only "from" a previous version
to a newer one.
It's a good idea not to burn your bridges and keep a copy of your
older version until you are absolutely sure you won't need it any longer.
I still regretted some times not having kept my original Access 2 or
'95 databases. They would run like a rocket in this computers today. Kept
the floppies for memorabilia though...

When I try to convert the database from 2000 to 97, the 97
choice to prior conversion is greyed out. Please help.
Thanks.
Phil is mistaken: Access2000 was the first version which did allow
saving the database in a prior version. Of course if you have used
features which did not exist in 97 they can't be retained.
I'd suggest Compacting the database and making sure that it's
completely compiled. Note also that while you should be able to save a
..mdb file in A97 format, you cannot save a .adp Project.
If you existing (A2K) database is an MDE, ADP or ADE file, you cannot
convert it back to A97 file format. MDE is compile and the Text component
of the code has been removes. ADP or ADE are new format in A2K without any
equivalent in A97.
If your existing database is an MDB, make sure the database compiles OK.
Also, make sure you don't use new features introduced in A2K.
