how do i open an appleworks file sent to me as an
attachment when i have a PC (word) ? is there a
conversion ?

The best thing to do, in my opinion, is to ask the person who sent it to you
to convert the document to a "word" type (an easy "Save as..." option) and
then send it to you. The recent versions of AppleWorks are rather good at
converting files.

If you can't reach the person (and the content is not too confidential, of
course) you can send the file to me, I can do that for you :)

The best method is to ask the AppleWorks user to save his or her Word
Processing files in Word format. AW has converters that will save files to
Word for Windows format.

Alternatively, DataViz sells a converter package for windows that is a lot
like MacLinkPlus Deluxe:

There are also file translators for other applications.
