Anders -
I'm glad you are not losing fidelity, thanks for the feedback.
We do have better support in Visio 2007, where this issue does not occur.
And our plans for support of Autodesk formats in future versions of Visio
has already been announced at this year's Visio Conference. The conference
sessions were recorded, and have been linked from the Visio Insights blog
(
http://blogs.msdn.com/visio/). In particular, be sure to check out the
Visio Future Investments session.
Also, here's another post which has some highlights from the conference :
http://blogs.msdn.com/visio/archive/2008/02/07/cad-integration-announcement-
for-visio-vnext.aspx :
"CAD Integration Announcement for Visio "vNext"
This morning at Day 2 of Visio Conference 2008, we announced that the next
version of Visio will add support for AutoCAD 2007 DWG and DXF file
formats. As mentioned in previous blog posts, this was a major request
from Visio customers and partners."
I hope that helps!

Thread-Topic: Convert CAD library - KB947650
I did not loose anything specific yet. But knowing Autodesk I might not in
the future be able to save back to versions that old.
Having to save back at all is a hassle.
I don't expect Microsoft or anyone else to be able to read the very latest
Autodesk format, but going back four or five versions is not very good.
