Convert .cwk to read in Word?

I have received some files with the extension .cwk . It appears to be
associated with either Claris Works or with AppleWorks. How can I convert
these files into readable documents in Word 2003?

Word does not have the ability to import native-format Claris Works
files. From within Claris Works, it is possible to "save as" a
Microsoft Word (.doc) or rich text format (.rtf) file, both of which
Word can open. Or you might consider a third-party conversion program
such as Dataviz Conversions Plus (see
http://www.dataviz.com/products/conversionsplus/index.html ).

ClarisWorks is what AppleWorks used to be called, by the way. Ask your
recipient to resend the documents in a different format. (I think MacWord
has a converter, but WinWord doesn't...) File | Open, Recover Text from Any
File may also get you the text, though not formatting.
