Convert Database Menu Option Not Active

I'm openning an Access97 database under Access2K and want to convert it to
2K format. The Convert Database menu option is not active. Why? What's going
on? TIA.

Is the database in an mde file? If so you need to go to the original
..mdb, convert that to 2000 format and then convert to .mde.

I am in the same situation as the original msg. When I
open an Access 97 file with Access 2000 and click on
Tools -> Database Utilities, the "Convert Database" option
is dimmed (gray-out). My databases are not in mde, so I
have no idea. I even installed the SP-3 but that did not
help either. Any ideas?
