convert decmials to fractions

When i import my bill of materials into excel. I have in. on the end of the
decmials. I am converting and it will not turn to a fraction. Example: .750
in. will not convert but .750 will .The other program default the in. I cant
get rid of it . thanks Brett

This is a newsgroup for Access, the database program that is part
of MS Office Professional. Your question does not seem to be related to
this newsgroup.

However, assuming your string is in cell A1, and that there is always a
space between the number and the text, you might try this:
=VALUE(LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1,1)))

If you have trouble with this, please post your question to an Excel group.
