Convert document to office 2007

Our users have office 2000 and sometimes they get documents from other people
who have office 2007. Example xlsx document to conver to xls. I downloaded
the converter from Convert XLS from Softinterface, inc which is a trial
version. Is there a free download from Microsoft that I could download on
our Citrix server so that all the users can open the documents?

There's the Microsoft Office 2007 Compatibility Pack....

I am currently running Office 2003 and I have downloaded the converter pack
from the MS Downloads website but I have no idea what extension I'm supposed
to "Save as" in order for it to actually save into the 2007 format.

Am I making this unnecessarily difficult? I'm totally confused.

A bit more information: I am working with an Excel 2003 spreadsheet which
needs to be read by an Excel 2007 program.

Thank you!

Office 2007 will read all prior versions of Office documents natively - the
Compatibility pack is for installation on prior versions of Office so they
can read Office 2007 default documents.

Hope that is a bit clearer.

When you do File | Save as, have you looked at the drop down choices under
"Save as Type"? You choose from there. For example, Excel 2007 Workbook
(*.xlsx)

Gotcha. So I don't have to do anything to my 2003 document to make sure it is
easily read by 2007? I suspected as much, but I was going out of my mind
trying to figure out the trick to the conversion tool.

Thank you very much, that does clear things up. :]

Yes, I have. There is no file type indicating Excel 2007 nor the .xlsx
extension, which is why I couldn't figure out what to save it as. :\

Then you must not have the converter installed properly.
